Umar ibn al Khattab (RA) is one of the most renowned and respected Sahabah- an early convert who strengthened Islam, one of the most beloved companions of the Prophet (SAW) buried next to him in Masjid An-Nabawi, and the second Khalifa ar-Rashidun who was responsible for the rapid expansion of the Islamic Empire and establishment of its early foundations. But what did Umar's (RA) rule really look like, why was it so significant, and what political lessons can we apply today?

Join us for a 4-part course on specific aspects of Umar (RA)’s leadership: administrative rules and structures he implemented, how he navigated civil-military relations, ruled over ethnically, linguistically, religiously diverse populations, and established principles of accountability and justice. We will reflect on lessons from this period of Islamic history, and discuss how they apply to Muslim communities and politics today.
