Phone A Friend Project
Center DC is in the beginning stages of relaunching a classic partner with Masjid Muhammad in a reprise of our phone banking effort from COVID era. This service opportunity represents a unique way to connect and mutually support one another within the broader DC Muslim community throughout the month of Ramadan and beyond inshaAllah.
We're looking for a team of dedicated folks who can commit to making weekly phone calls to check in on the pioneers (many of whom are 60+ in age, mashaAllah) in the Masjid Muhammad community. The purpose of this initiative is to make intentional heart-felt connections with our brothers and sisters, to mutually support one another, and to spread love, hope and the Ramadan spirit throughout our community.
The Process:
1. You sign up (check!)
2. You attend a brief webinar with us to talk logistics, learn some pastoral dos/donts & get some practice!
3. We match you with 1-5 people to call on a weekly basis for a fixed amount of time! Some call recipients may prefer to speak with someone of their same gender - for that reason, this info may help us in the matching process!
4. Each week, you call the folks you are matched with + log your calls in a spreadsheet!
Note: We are still in the planning phase - you signing up helps us assess our capacity and interest: if enough people are interested, we'll be able to move forward with confidence inshaAllah! As we formalize the offering, we'll reach out with next steps and more details and support to get started.
